The Goldsmith-Theodore Agency was founded in 1984 by Drew Theodore in partnership with the Wm.Goldsmith Agency. Goldsmith-Theodore Agency began as a division of the Wm. Goldsmith Agency, which had been an independent insurance agency since 1884. Wm. Goldsmith Agency marketed insurance throughout the upper counties of the state of South Carolina and Goldsmith-Theodore Agency was established to market insurance to the remaining counties in the state of South Carolina. Over time the Goldsmith-Theodore Agency expanded its territory to market insurance to most of the Southeastern States of the United States. In 2007 we changed our name to Theodore & Associates which better reflects our local, private ownership and pride of association.

Service to our clients is our main focus. Our goal is to be a valuable part of our clients’ business by protecting them against unforeseen, unavoidable losses, and doing so with as little effort as possible from our client. What makes us different from our competition is our friendly, informed and professional staff and our ability to respond to our clients needs quickly. We provide old fashion service to our clients with a modern, high tech delivery system.

We re-invest in Continuing Education

Our commitment to our clients and our industry is to actively pursue the professional development of our Associates. We make it our practice for our Associates to exceed the annual continuing education requirements of the State. Most of our Associates currently hold or are pursuing professional designations.

The following designations require coursework followed by a rigorous exam and continuing education.

The CISR or ACSR program is a practical program stressing the understanding and analysis of risks and exposures. It is directed toward the very special needs of servicing clients. The program consists if a 5 part series for Personal Residential, Personal Automobile, Commercial Property, Commercial Casualty and Agency Management. Passing of all 5 exams are required to receive this designation. Annual seminar attendance is mandatory to maintain this designation.

The CIC program consists of advanced study in the areas of Personal Lines, Commercial Property, Commercial Casualty, Life and Health, and Agency Management. Advanced coursework includes the detailed study of various policies and their specific application to client needs fulfillment. Each of the 5 part series requires 2 1/2 days of classroom attendance and course material. Passing all 5 exams are required to receive this designation. Annual seminar attendance is mandatory to maintain this designation.

The AAI program addresses technical knowledge of insurance products and client needs. This program reviews all types of personal and commercial policies in detail. It focuses on analyzing techniques to meet the needs of insurance buyers and managing operations to facilitate exceptional client service. The course consists of 3 sections that contain 3 parts per section. Passing of the written section exams are required to receive this designation.

Drew Theodore began his career in the insurance business in 1981. He received his designation of Certified Insurance Counselor in 1997. He was awarded Associate of the Year in 1995 by the Insurance Women of the Midlands, awarded Young Agent of the Year in 1997 by the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina, awarded Association Achievement Award in 2000 by the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina, and awarded Agent of the Year in 2007 by the Independent Agents and Brokers of South Carolina. Drew served as President of the Independent Agents of Greater Columbia for the years 1997 and 1998 and served as the Chairman of the Board of the Independent Agents and Brokers of South Carolina for the years 2004 and 2005.
